The spool on this reel is visually appealing as you can see the leading on the reel is well worn except for this recessed portion of the spool

Both the handle side plate and the spool are ventilated for weight reduction

Hardy Brass Faced Perfect Reel 4" 8'6" Along with a larger setA very nice Hardy Brass Faced Perfect salmon reel, 4" diameter and set up for the typical RHW. The reel boasts the 1904 design with the improved ratchet pawl, which Hardy introduced to strengthen the pawl with a stronger steel bridge. This reel still has the "C" spring flush against the frame, however, which Hardy would soon orient perpendicularly. Excellent overall condition, with normal cosmetic wear but free of any major defects that I could find.
