It differs from my later rods by the following two details: there is a wooden lip on the reel seat where it meets the rear of the grip and the wraps are a slightly darker shade of red then the current "may rose" color that I would later settle on (with edges that are also slightly darker)

Made with pre embargo cane 8'0" 2 2 for a 6 weight line. The rod is in excellent plus condition. All sections are full length and straight. Straw colored cane with transparent caramel wraps and black tipping. Blued guides and ferrules. Bronzed loop hook keeper. Bright hexagonal nickel silver winding check. Reverse half wells grip with slight soiling. Bright aluminum down
