Antique Set of Small Seto Ware Japanese Plates, Edo Period chawan Each tanmono is between 12-15A set of ten antique Japanese miniature ceramic plates from Seto or Mino kiln regions, dating back to the late Edo period. Measuring 7cm wide, these pieces feature a yellowish cream ash glaze with a heavy, natural crackle texture. The small bare clay patches are kiln scars, a result of the plates being stacked directly on top of each other during firing. Because of their tiny size, they were likely either used as toumyo zara to hold oil and wicks for
