The varnish is in generally very good condition but has a few touch up spots including a 2-inch long section of the corner of the butt between the stripper and the top guide of the butt

The cap and ring were oxidized but only 5 to 10%

I can see only the tiniest amount of brassing inside the snake guides

The cap and ring are superbly machined as you would expect from Sam who was an expert machinist and tool and die maker

The rod is in good- overall condition with some issues
