Sometimes I wreck a map by tearing it or just doesn't turn out the way I wanted it to look

The white represents the snow in the mountains

The blue at the bottom is Liberty Blue the same as the United States flag

I tried to capture the "softness" of the morning

The original Five Trees was inspired seeing the late fall aspen trees silhouetted against the supermoon in the night sky

The shape and orientation of the Kansas map lent itself perfectly to a landscape painting. Trying to decide what scene to paint over each map, I try to capture a feeling of that particular state without covering up too many places. The windmill and moon give it a timeless and dream like feeling to this painting. It was painted using acrylic paints thinned with water to allow the map
