Late 19th Century Cast Iron Tandem Bicycle Couple Inkwell Base newspaper Drawers (x15): 5" W xc. 1890s; (possibly) Judd Manufacturing Co. Wallingford, CT Cast iron figural inkwell base featuring a man and woman riding a tandem bicycle, rendered in original polychrome paint. Note that this is a 'lady front' tandem, the most popular style from 1895 to 1899. The affectionate pair leans toward one another as their bicycles rest on a decorative scrolled base. At center is a recessed circular well designed to hold a removable glass ink insert (now
