19th Century Chinese Ridge Tile 19th Century Commode This rare and magnificent pairA rare glazed antique terracotta Chinese ridge tile with a sage riding a rooster and a grotesque image to the front. In Chinese mythology the rooster signifies honesty, fortune and luck. Only temples and important buildings were allowed to be decorated with tiles of this type, this is a particularly fine example with high quality moulding and a rich ochre coloured glaze.
