I then burnish polish them, those with spikes have them put on with slip at this stage and then the pots are fired in an electric kiln. Once this is done I then pattern them using a thinner slip. The pots are then fired in a bin of sawdust using different woods including pine, oak and sycamore to vary effects. Striped and spotted pots now have the slip removed to reveal the pattern.
