The clay body is mined and mixed locally in Northern CA. Various slips made of locally foraged clays, rocks, and wood ash are applied to the pieces before being fired in a soda kiln. Strong reduction (lack of oxygen) from pieces of wood added to the kiln during the firing and cooling help to bring out the various colors and textures of the clay
